In every successful community, there are people who work hard and volunteer harder. These are the movers and shakers who work their day jobs, and then go on to serve on boards or committees, secure grants, mentor our youth, or quietly place flags where our war heroes have been laid to rest. They build on our shared foundation and continue to enhance our community. Several more will publish randomly. Send us the names of the faces you'd like to see here.

ANGER Roger imgROGER ANGER - Roger Anger’s name is synonymous with Mancelona Township, Mancelona cemeteries, history and family roots. Roger worked for Mancelona Township for 43 years, retiring in 2018. He was Cemetery Sexton, Airport Manager, Deputy Treasurer for 40 years, and assisted in other departments - the senior center, building and grounds and library - all under the Mancelona Township umbrella. As Cemetery Sexton, Roger dug into the history of the people who are buried in Fairview and St. Anthony’s Catholic cemeteries. He most enjoyed working with and helping people who sought information about their ancestors. He filled requests for historical information, something he says was the best part of his job. Roger is described by his former co-workers as a very caring and giving person, someone who is all about family history. He was cooperative, helpful and detail oriented at work, and a pleasure to be around. Now retired, Roger is a resident of Mackinaw County, and still has a home in Mancelona.    /2023
